With decades of experience with dental implants, we can help simplify the overwhelming world of brands, materials, components and more.

We offer: treatment planning • custom abutments • implant crowns & bridges • combination & complex cases • fixed & removable dentures • placement guides • teeth in a day • on almost any implant platform.

At Vitallab, our products are designed around function first, without discounting the importance of aesthetics. We know dental implants. We understand that the contour of an implant abutment, and their crown, bridge or denture, is critical not only to aesthetics, but to the patient’s ongoing health. We make every effort to design implant prosthetics that help maintain bone and therefore tissue. These design considerations as part of our ongoing attempts to put your patients first, allow us to produce implant restorations that are both beautiful and that remain in service and out of mind

Abutment options

Cementable implant crown (bridge) – Our cementable implant crown combines your choice of crown (see our ceramics, crown and bridge document), with one of the custom designed implant abutment options shown below.

Titanium abutment – (Vitallab product of choice). available for almost any implant fixture, a full titanium abutment is a strong, bio-compatible, and a very reliable option for nearly any dental implant restoration. In highly aesthetic areas, titanium abutments can be titanium nitride coated, or layered in tooth/root coloured porcelain, both of which will give a warm bright effect to the tissue around the crown. The wide array of indications, and the extreme reliability of titanium abutments make them a staple in the industry today. Available for single unit to full arch form. (Ref 3)

Zirconia hybrid abutment – Aesthetically superior, available for almost any implant fixture, a hybrid zirconia abutment combines the natural colouring, strength, and biocompatibility of zirconia with a softer and more forgiving implant fitting surface. Zirconia is among the most aesthetic abutment materials. These abutments can vary in design

due to differences in manufacturer components. Available for single unit to full arch form. (Ref 1, 2, 3) 613•746•7525 vitallab.ca

Zirconia abutment – Aesthetically superior, available for most implant fixtures, zirconia abutments are strong, biocompatible and natural in colouring. Zirconia is among the most aesthetic abutment materials. While Vitallab does supply all zirconia abutments when requested, due to the material’s brittleness, and abrasiveness at the implant fitting surface, in most situations we do not recommend them. Available for single unit to full arch form. (Ref 1, 2, 3, 4)

Lithium Disilicate (e-max®) abutments

Similar in design to zirconia hybrid abutments. Aesthetically superior, biocompatible, and strong, lithium disilicate makes a beautiful implant abutment. Etchable and bondable, lithium disilicate abutments can receive a resin bonded

crown, a cemented crown, or hand layered porcelain. Not recommended for areas requiring a narrow abutment emergence. Available for 1 to 3 units. (Ref 1, 3)

Gold abutment – A traditional gold abutment is aesthetic, strong, biocompatible, and requires minimal space. Extremely proven, these abutments were commonplace after the advent of the U.C.L.A dental abutment in the 1980’s. Although not as common as they once were, Vitallab still offers these abutments in a wide range of alloys. Available in single unit to full arch form. (Ref 3)

A popular cementable crown/abutment combination

Example – Cementable premium layered implant crown – (Vitallab product of choice). Our most often requested implant restoration and a very proven design. A simple and very biocompatible titanium, custom designed, implant abutment, combined with any of our crowns, such as, Ivoclar e-max, porcelain layered to a zirconia, or Ivoclar d’sign porcelain layered to a metal alloy core.

Screw retained implant crown (bridge) – Our screw retained implant crown is a screw retained abutment/crown combination. After placement, the access hole will require closing, often using cotton (to protect the screw head) followed by closing the access hole with composite resin. Screw retained abutment/crowns can be fabricated using any of our abutments (above), in the following configurations. Please refer to our “Considerations – dental implant restorations” discussions document.

Available in single unit to full arch form, the lack of demand for metal anterior teeth, outside of the James Bond set, and for various other motion picture villains makes gold abutment crowns effectively available in 1 to 4-unit form. (Ref 3)

Full arch implant restorations

Teeth in a day® – A proven method to provide patients with implant borne teeth without the time normally required for implant placement, healing, and restoration. We provide support for the temporary prosthetic, followed by a final restoration comprised of a choice of anything from denture teeth processed in acrylic to individual porcelain crowns cemented on a zirconia framework. We can even help combine a CT scan with CAD design to manufacture guided surgery templates and interim dental prosthetics.

Fixed implant restoration VL1 – (Vitallab product of choice). Premium denture teeth processed in Lucitone 199 denture acrylic on a titanium bar, retained and supported by 4 or more dental implants. Available for most dental implant fixtures. Can be used with or without trans-gingival abutments. These restorations are highly aesthetic, easily maintained or repaired, and very affordable. (Ref 3)

Fixed implant restoration VL2 – Zirconia implant retained and supported framework with full contour posterior crowns and 6 individual anterior crowns. Available with our FCP or FCC finishes.
